Portrait of a Graduate

  • Sophia Scalet, a compassionate citizen and graduate of the Class of 2025, is featured in a portrait celebrating a bold future.

Since elementary school, but particularly during her time at the high school, Sophia Scalet has demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to academics and selfless passion for service. For example, as the current President of the Impact Foundation, Sophia is instrumental in leading the organization to provide food and clothing to over 130 families in need each month.

Some of the other ways in which Sophia has had a positive impact on our community during her time as a student include:

    • Lifelong Girl Scout - Joined in Kindergarten
    • Puzzle Partner Working with Exceptional Students - Since Sophomore YearLink Crew Member - Junior Year
    • Student Board Representative - Junior Year
    • Future Leaders of Millcreek - Junior Year
    • Tutor for Students in Millcreek - Senior Year
    • Student Council Member - Since Middle School
    • Student Council President - Senior Year
    • Other Clubs and Activities Include - Diversity and Activism Club, Five Academic Honor Societies, Model UN,
    • Technology Student Association, Musicals, and Soccer Team.

Sophia is one of those rare students who not only excels in everything she does, but does so to make the world a better place. She truly exemplifies our Compassionate Citizen competency.

  • Three high school students smile while holding a basket full of groceries, representing the 'Community Collaborator' aspect of a 'Bold Future' graduate.

In the Intensive Learning Support program, students rotate through non-paid work experiences with different partners throughout the community and learn pre-vocational skills as part of transition planning. Throughout the week, students deliver packages to staff at the the high school, clean the faculty room at Valley View Elementary, deliver lunch orders from Jimmy Johns to staff, and transport clothing and food donations to the Impact Foundation pantry. Not only are our students working with a diverse group of partners, they are working together cooperatively toward a common goal...a BOLD future. They truly exemplify our Community Collaborator competency.

  • A portrait of Jasmine GONZALEZ, a graduate from the Class of 2030, highlighting her skills as an effective communicator.

Jasmine Gonzalez starts her school day in the middle school studio with other students who have volunteered to produce the morning announcements. In her current role as anchor, she stands in front of a green screen sharing important events and reminders in a way that is easy to understand and engaging, and she does it LIVE! As a District, we hope to provide opportunities for students to practice their communication skills. That is often done in writing, but it is fun to see students like Jasmine using their skills to benefit their classmates. Jasmine and the entire morning announcement team truly exemplify our Effective Communicator competency. Thank you for all you have done and continue to do for York Suburban.

  • A portrait of Clarence Cashour, a graduate of the Class of 2025, described as a 'Well-Rounded Contributor' who 'Overcomes obstacles and models continuous learning through a strong work ethic, essential life skills, and a commitment to wellness.'

Thanks to his incredible work ethic, Clarence Cashour has taken advantage of all Millcreek Township High School has to offer. While taking multiple Advanced Placement and College in High School courses, Clarence participated in Student Council, Varsity Football, Marching Band, Concert Band, the A Capella Singing Group, Musicals, Trojan Theatre, Quiz Bowl, and Technology Student Association (TSA). He also applied for and was accepted into Future Leaders of York and the Math, German, Tri-M Music, and Theatre Honor Societies. Clarence was also recognized this year as a Commended Scholar by the National Merit Scholarship Program, YAIAA Division II Football All-Star, and a member of the Homecoming Court.

Clarence is one of those students who has mastered balancing school work and activities and is respected by staff and his fellow students. He truly exemplifies our Well-Rounded Contributor competency.

  • A portrait of Neil Oestereich, a graduate from the Class of 2025, described as a creative problem-solver.

Neil Oestereich may be best known for his involvement in the Technology Student Association (TSA). As a TSA member, Neil participated in the 11th Annual York County Pumpkin Chuckin Competition hosted by York Tech and assisted his team in earning fourth place. Neil has attended the Pennsylvania TSA Region 3 Conference the last four years and each time qualified for states. Last year he earned first place at states which qualified him for nationals. While his impressive performance at TSA conferences in the Flight Endurance category is worthy of recognition, what happens while preparing for the events is truly impressive. According to TSA advisor Mr. Shearer, Neil has voluntarily taken on mentoring younger TSA members, assisting them with their projects and preparations for TSA events. It should be no surprise that someone with Neil's character and compassion would choose to enlist in the Air Force and pursue a career in the military after graduation.

Neil demonstrates the ability to approach challenges with an innovative mindset. He thinks outside the box and often through collaborative brainstorming with his peers. He truly exemplifies our Creative Problem-Solver competency.
